These last few days I’ve been exploring the best setting for enterprise analytics when using Tableau. Tableau, like most tools, has database connectors that allow live connections to your database. But one of the benefits of Tableau is able to extract data, package it in a Tableau friendly format (.tde) and boost speed of calculations and general usage.
I came across this post discussing “TDE or Live?” and thought it was thorough enough I should share.
We’re currently leveraging Analytics Canvas to package a few TDEs and upload to Tableau rather than the live connection.
